17-year-old suspect behind GTA 6 leaks already in police custody in the UK

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have yet to release statements addressing the arrest.

After typing "FUGITIVE" into his computer last weekend, the suspect behind the hacking of GTA 6 might want to start spamming "LAWYERUP" instead.

Just days after news of a massive Rockstar Games data breach broke out, police have in custody the 17-year-old believed to be behind the entire fiasco.

Tech journalist, Matthew Keys, was the first to report on the incident. Keys claims sources have told him that the individual involved is part of a larger hacking group, Lapsus$. Keys is adding that it is possible that the arrest is related to the Uber hacking that occurred within the same week as the GTA 6 leaks.

We're hoping that the employees over at Rockstar aren't bent out of shape because of the hacking.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily the most highly anticipated game of this decade. It's natural for people to do anything they can to get their hands on privy info. But, this one is different. It involves roughly 50 minutes of in-development footage of the next GTA game going online. Furthermore, the hacker threatened to leak more info if Rockstar didn't give them what they wanted.

It's not clear if Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive gave in to the hacker's demands. However, both have successfully prevented the spreading of the videos and screenshots even further.

Speaking of, what we saw told a story of a game that's far from complete. But, the clips we saw did shed light on important details about the next GTA game. For example, it confirmed that GTA 6 is going to be set in a modern version of Vice City and that it will have a playable female character. The character, Lucia, will make history as the first female GTA protagonist.

Rockstar's statement confirms that the company doesn't expect GTA 6's timeline to change because of this debacle. GTA 6 remains without a release date.
