The latest GTA 6 leak fuels Vice City setting speculation

We can't discount the possibility that Rockstar Games might just be trolling us.

Rockstar Games finally confirmed GTA 6 earlier this year - nearly a decade after GTA V first came out. This opened the floodgates to rumors, leaks, and speculations. Occasionally, we will come across potentially legitimate info from pseudo-official sources. A good example is the updated resume of the voice actor, Natonia Monet.

As spotted by GTA 6 News and Leaks on Twitter, Monet added "Fireball Video Game" into her list of credentials. The listing adds that she will voice a character named "Tamara" for a game made by "Rockstar Games". However, as soon as this blew up, Monet removed all the traces of the word "Fireball" from her CV. Most have taken this as a sign that Rockstar is using the word "Fireball" to refer to GTA 6 internally.

Now, for the sake of the argument, let's just say that GTA 6's codename is indeed Fireball and you're open to theories, no matter how much of a stretch they are.

According to GTA Forums user, Americana, it is interesting that Rockstar is using the specific word to refer to GTA VI. Americana points out that GTA 6 would share the same name as a song by the musician Pitbull, who is from Miami. The city of Miami served as the inspiration for Vice City, the setting for Rockstar Games' 2002 GTA game, GTA: Vice City. If we assume that this is true, then it will be in line with previous rumors that GTA 6 will be set in Vice City. It also follows the pattern of Rockstar revisiting the settings of older GTA games like Liberty City in GTA IV and San Andreas in GTA V.

Miami is one of the largest cities in the United States, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to revisit it in GTA VI.

It's a lot to wrap your head around and we understand if you don't believe it. But, Rockstar is a cheeky company known for its twisted sense of humor. If nothing else, revealing clues about where GTA VI will be set using its codename is on brand.

Ultimately, we have no choice but to wait for more official GTA 6 news. Until then, we can rest easy knowing that GTA VI is willing to give up easy money like the long-rumored GTA IV remaster and a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as Red Dead Online just so it, can focus on GTA IV. If that doesn't tell us how committed Rockstar is to GTA VI, we don't know what does.
