GTA 5 Story Mode Affected Stocks Guide

Different story missions affect the GTA 5 stock market in different ways.

First, you should wait as long as you can before you do the Hotel Assassination mission, which is required to continue the story. All of the other assassination missions should be saved until the end.

Second, use the following information about how different stocks react to story events to invest your money wisely.

LifeInvader and Richards Majestic

You should not invest in LifeInvader or Richards Majestic. LifeInvader will decrease in value after Friend Request, and Richards Majestic decreases at a later point in the game. The key issue with these two is that they never regain their original values.

Vangelico

Vangelico will decrease in value after The Jewel Store Job and increase after Minor Turbulence, for about a 40% return if you buy at its low and sell at its high.

FlyUS

FlyUS will decrease in value by about 50% after Legal Trouble and increase to its original value after Meltdown, for a 100% return if you buy at its low and sell at its high.

Cluckin’ Bell

Cluckin' Bell will decrease in value after Paleto Score and Gruppe Sachs will decrease in value after The Big Score (Subtle Version). These two, along with Augury Insurance and Merryweather (which do not decrease in value during the game), will increase for high returns based on your ending decision.

The remainder of this guide contains spoilers for the ending. Do not continue reading if you don't know about GTA V's ending choice.

Cluckin' Bell will increase to its original value if you go with The Third Way (Deathwish) ending choice, for about a 65% return if you buy at its low and sell at its high. Gruppe Sachs will also increase to its original value, for about a 30% - 35% return if you buy at its low and sell at its high. Augury Insurance will double in value, for a 100% return.

However, if you pick The Third Way, Merryweather will decrease in value by over 50% and never return to its original value. To make money by investing in Merryweather, you should choose The Time's Come (Kill Michael). It will increase in value for about a 250% return.

These are all of the stocks currently known to be affected by story events.

  1. Well that would explain why I was confused and could not find any solutions. It is offline online. Makes sense now lol

Thanks for clarifying that. Even a friend of mine told me it works and had me thinking it was just me that couldn't figure anything out.

  2. @kingOf0,
They removed the stocks online. I can't remember when but they were not working right if I remember correctly so you can only do it for the story mode/offline. I think it was enabled and was eating people's money with no return so it was disabled. This was like 6+ years ago.

  3. @Crusader,
Am I missing something? It doesn't work online for me. Like when I am in a server and go to the site, it is just busted.

  4. @noScope,
I think the offline stocks rely mostly on Lester's assassination missions. Like this is the best way to get tons of money. I didn't mess with it much online but it seems to be a bit different and more dependent on what people are actually doing in the server.

  5. I messed around with this during my campaign run but haven't done much with it online yet. Do the stocks tend to be similar online or do you have to watch for specific patterns (or create them)?

  6. I did choice 3 and my aug just stays in the negatives it only goes up like at max 0.10 and then just goes back down this normal or....?

  7. To make the most money during the final mission... choose the third way and before you play the final misson invest all money into Augury Insurance (obviously because it has a 100% return.) dont even bother with Cluckin Bell or Gruppe Sachs. After the mission wait a few hours maybe even save a couple times ( remember to save the your game right after the mission incase you mess up and the stock drops). Then hopefully you waited till after you got your 40 million from the big score to do the rest of the Lester assassination missions and follow the guide on this site. After I did all this ( and not blowing money thru out the game) i had 1.6 BILLION with Michael and about 1.1 Billion with trevor and franklin. Yes that is Billion with a B.

    1. It's pretty pathetic if you walk away with less that $2B after makin' so many investments. One time, I got Franklin $2.1B & the only things I invested in were the assassination missions after the final mission.

  8. I would like to share that, after the "the third way" mission, merryweather stock does take a fall but it can be revived to 100% return in profit but it takes a lot of saving and reloading the game to get 100%. I just tried it today. Its a tedious task indeed and you need a lot of patience. Like seriously.

  9. UPDATE after Meltdown FLYUS has gone up past the usual price, and my invest price, of around 10 bucks. It's at around 11.50 right now only after 5 in game hours of the first day of the stock market opening after Meltdown. I have a 11% change but that was only because I was dumb and invested early. In my game the graph looks like the big dipper, as the bottom, lowest price coming after Lamar Down. Invest everything into FLYUS after this mission and the reward will be incredible after Meltdown if you have a lot of money with all the characters. Good luck stacking money up before you get even more from the final heist

  10. Saw this info, invested all characters in FLYUS after The Bureau Raid mission and before Lamar Down and stock dropped by 50%. Michael is down 1.3 million right now. Hopefully it goes back up after Meltdown like this guide says but I'm just about to do it. I'll update after I'm done but for my game at least don't invest until after Lamar Down before you do Meltdown when stock is around 5 25...At least for my game

  11. Nice bro.you mention things that are uncommon.I know about the merryweather stocks skyrocket after killing michael.but I wasn't aware about the cluckinbell.thx
